Fast, Fun and Nutritious Meal Ideas for Families on the Go

By: ARA
(ARA) - Busy families need quick, healthy meals to keep them going. This is especially true during the fall, as they engage in all kinds of outdoor activities from baseball to bike riding.

Tortilla wraps are a food trend that fits the bill for an easy lunch or dinner. Mom and Dad can be in and out of the kitchen quickly and the kids will have fun with this versatile “finger food.”

To make a wrap, simply fill a tortilla with your favorite ingredients. Let your creativity go wild for some innovative combinations. You can add your favorite sandwich filling, from turkey to tuna (don’t forget all the interesting extras like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives and your favorite low fat sandwich spread).

Or you can follow tortilla tradition and use low fat or no-fat refried beans, fresh avocado, salsa (either made fresh or store-bought), and low fat cheese for a tasty Mexican meal.

Since most tortillas are made with refined white flour, they aren’t adding any nutritional benefit to your meal. However, Food For Life Organic Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Tortillas provide an extra nutritional punch to your wrap. Made from freshly sprouted live grains, these tortillas contain no flour. The blend of freshly spouted grains, beans and seeds provides a complete protein. No milk, baking yeast, artificial colors or flavors are used.

“Sprouting is the only way to release all the vital nutrients stored in whole grains,” explains Gary Torres, marketing director of Food For Life Baking Company, based in Corona, Calif. “Our exclusive sprouting process not only significantly increases valuable nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin C, B-vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, it causes a natural change that makes the protein and carbohydrates easier for the body to use,” he says. In fact, sprouts are lower in carbohydrates and calories than the grains from which they were sprouted.

The tortillas, which are available in either a 10-inch “burrito” size or a 6-inch “taco” size, are certified organic. “That assures consumers that the grains have been grown and processed without the use of spray fertilizers, chemical or pesticides,” says Torres.

Food for Life, a family owned and operated company, produces an entire line of over 60 high quality baked goods made from natural ingredients for optimum health and nutrition. The company’s products are distributed nationally.
